Joy Behar is celebrating a big birthday today! The television veteran turns 82 years old! In the last few decades, she has shown no signs of slowing down. And it seems that the comedian does not plan to do so in the future either.

Joy Behar was born October 7, 1942, and the legend is celebrating her 82nd birthday today! Behar is the longtime television co-host of the daytime talk show, ‘The View’ which she has been hosting since 1997, and hence is one of the original panelists of the show. In the past few years, however, she has not been as consistent on the show.
She left the show in 2013 but returned in 2015. She later commented on how it felt like to be let go from the show, “I was glad to be fired. I basically was sick of the show at that point for some reason, I don’t even remember why.”
The television host did not know why she was fired and said the network did not know why either. She said, “That was very stupid of them. But they learned their lesson.” In October 2022, she said she had no plans to retire from the show.
Behar once said that she was always surprised at the viewship of her show, saying, “I’m happy to be a part of it. So no, I’m not going anywhere. I’m having a good time.”
Last year, she celebrated her birthday on air.
Her co-hosts commented on how Behar did not seem enthused by it being her birthday, to which she replied, “I can’t get excited. I’m just glad I’m alive, okay? You know, you get to a point where you wake up in the morning and say, ‘I’m still here, my God.’”
Behar in her personal life, has seen it all. She has been married twice and is not just a mother but also a grandmother.
Behar’s second husband, Steve Janowitz, is a retired school teacher. The couple wed in 2011 after being together for over 29 years. They wore coordinated outfits for their big day. She wore a short-sleeved dress, while he wore a black suit that he paired with a bow tie and white shirt underneath.
The actress after her wedding, spoke about her experience the second time around. She said “Do I look like a blushing bride to you? It’s been 29 years.”
She said she was not in any ‘honeymoon’ phase as the couple had been together for so long already. They were merely marrying the person they loved and had been with for such a long time.
As for the secret to their long-lasting relationship, she said the pair are not the sensitive type, so neither of them takes whatever remarks they pass around when they are together to heart.
She said her husband is a man with good humor, and for the first year of their relationship, she did not reveal to him that she was a comedian since she thought she might scare him off.
The couple had been together for nearly three decades before they tied the knot. As to why they waited so long to marry, Behar said, “We waited so long because I had been married before, and I didn’t really see the point.”
The comedian joked, “We did it for the sex,” before she explained that since she had gotten older, she wanted someone who would be there for her “emotionally and legally” if something were to happen.
As for Janowitz, he is seven years younger than his famous wife. They have now been married for over 13 years.
Apart from being a wife, Behar is also a mother. She and her first husband, Joseph Behar, welcomed one child together, a daughter, Eve Behar, in November 1970. They were married from 1965 to 1981.
Her daughter is now married to Alphonso Scotti, and has a son of her own, Luca.
Behar is not shy to show off her grandson, calling him “brilliant” and already talkative at eight months old.
As for Eve, she is an artist. She shared details of an art opening and shared a family group photo from the evening. As for Luca, he is pictured on his mother’s profile too, all grown up since he has entered his teenage years now. His mother posted a picture of him alongside his grandmother.
