Sadistic kidnappers who cut off a man’s penis and abandoned him in the desert revealed why they did it.
Michael S, whose last name has been withheld to protect his identity, was the owner of a successful marijuana dispenser business in California, but his life was turned upside down after being kidnapped.
At the time of the kidnapping back in 2012, a then 28-year-old Michael was at his home with housemate, Mary Barnes, when their property was broken into.
Michael was taken before being beaten and tortured with a blowtorch and a taser during the journey to the Mojave Desert.

The kidnappers even zip-tied the base of his penis before severing it and dousing him in bleach, during which they allegedly laughed.
The horrific crime is the subject of ABC News documentary Wicked Game: Devil in the Desert, which premiered yesterday (February 4).
You may be wondering why the kidnappers targeted Michael in particular during this horrific attack.
Well, they believed Michael had hidden $1 million dollars in the desert and tortured him severely.
They hoped Michael would reveal its location, but he repeatedly insisted he did not have any kind of money – even as he was subjected to horrendous pain.
Once the kidnappers had gone, Mary was able to locate a knife and cut herself free and find the nearest car, and the driver just so happened to be a police officer.
Officers from the Kern County Sheriff’s Department located Michael, who was covered in blood and going in and out of consciousness.
Ryan Peters, a now retired Newport Beach Police Department detective, and Matt Murphy, then a homicide prosecutor with the district attorney’s office, worked on the case and took steps to find the perpetrators.
He told ABC News: “At the very beginning of the investigation, we basically had nothing.
“We have this absolutely horrific crime, and they interview Michael, who’s like, ‘Guys, I pay my bills. I have no enemies. I’m nice to people. I’ve never slept with anybody’s wife.’ My detectives are looking for any possible angle, like, who did this?”

Kyle Shirakawa Handley was soon indentified as a person of interest, with Peters adding: “We slowly, methodically, kind of start going through these things. And what we’re finding is that they’re white towels with bleach all over them. We test these towels for blood and they’re coming back positive.”
Through DNA testing of other items inside the van, police found out a man named Hossein Nayeri was connected and was actually the ringleader with the kidnapping.
Nayeri and Handley were sentenced to life without the possibility of parole, while their accomplice Ryan Kevorkian was sentenced to 12 years.

Police in California have described a ‘gruesome’ scene after a 28-year-old man was arrested following the death of his son.
The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office’s took to Facebook to share a press release of the incident which took place in North Sacramento County at approximately 4.15am on Saturday, December 21.
Officers were called to the scene on reports of a ‘family disturbance’, and were able to make contact with a woman outside the home on Versailles Way who told them that her husband, Andrey Demskiy, had assaulted her and her mother.
Police attempted to make contact with Demskiy, but he refused to answer the door. According to the Sheriff’s Office, deputies then learned that inside the home with Demskiy was a one-year-old boy, who could have possibly become injured after being ‘thrown’ by his father.
Fearing for the child’s safety, police forced entry into the home and attempted to detain Demskiy, who was described as being ‘uncooperative’ and ‘physically resistive’.
Police were ultimately able to get Demskiy into custody, but when they looked further into the home they made what the Sheriff’s Office described as a ‘gruesome discovery’.
Inside the room where Demskiy had been contacted and detained was a ‘severed child’s head’. Later, the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office identified the deceased as Micah Demskiy.
The discovery prompted the arrival of Crime Scene Investigators and Sheriff’s Child Abuse Bureau Detectives, who work in murder investigations involving children.

After investigating the scene, the detectives claimed that Demskiy had been involved in a domestic violence incident with his wife and mother-in-law, which prompted the initial call to officers.
However, when the wife and her mom left the home, Demskiy is accused of having used a knife to behead and murder his son.
Amar Gandhi, a spokesperson for the Sheriff’s Office, described the alleged beheading as ‘one of the most horrific things’ he’s learned of.
Speaking to KCRA, he added that authorities were ‘visibly shaken’ over the incident.
“For this family who has got to pick up the pieces and go on — I mean, their world is shattered,” the spokesperson said.

A GoFundMe page has since been set up for the family which describes Micah as ‘a kind and joyful soul’.
“His kind heart and beautiful smile warmed the hearts of everyone he came in contact with. He loved his family and especially his mama,” the page reads.
After police arrived at the scene, the mother-in-law was transported to the hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Meanwhile Demskiy was booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail, where records show he has been charged with assault by means of force likely to produce great bodily injury, corporal injury to a spouse of cohabitant, and murder.
The 28-year-old is ineligible for bail and is next scheduled to appear in court on December 24.

The death of a 33-year-old mother of eight was caught on camera as she attempted to confront alleged drug dealers.
Maria Ramos lost her life in East Oakland, California on August 7, after she approached a car on the 5600 block of Hilton Street.
Ramos, who was with her mother at the time, suspected the people in the car had been selling vape pens filled with marijuana and were responsible for one of her children getting their hands on one.
Footage of the scene filmed on a street camera showed Ramos getting out of an SUV, driven by her mother, next to a sedan which carried the suspects.
Her mother, Bianca Velasco, recalled: “Our plan was to tell them, stop coming to our house.”
Ramos approached the car, but those inside almost immediately began to fire shots at her. She ran away, but unfortunately suffered an injury as a result.
Police are investigating whether Ramos pepper sprayed the suspects before they shot her.
Officers arrived at the scene at about 2.30pm local time and said they found a victim suffering at least one gun shot wound.
Speaking to KTVU, Velasco recalled: “I started rubbing her chest and telling her, ‘Breathe, Lupita, breathe! Like, we still need you. You have 8 kids.’ And she tried.”
Ramos was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

Commenting on the incident, Oakland Deputy Chief of Police Frederick Shavies said: “Within minutes, our patrol team and our special resources team sprung into action, identifying the vehicle, locating the vehicle and then quickly taking three suspects into custody within the next 12 hours.”
The loss of Ramos has left her family devastated, with Velasco telling CBS News her five-year-old granddaughter is still waiting for her mom to come home.
“She says, ‘I hear mommy is dead, but she’s still coming back from the hospital, right grandma?'” Velasco said.
“I would be like, ‘yeah,’ because I don’t know how to tell her she’s not coming back.”
The grandmother added that she is now planning to move out of Oakland with her grandchildren in a bid to keep them safe.
“She was a cheerful person, a very lovable person to her and her kids,” Velasco said of her daughter. “You know she was very lovable. She liked taking her kids out all the time. Her kids were her world to her.”
A 16-year-old boy has been charged with murder in relation to Ramos’ death. He is now being held at Alameda County Juvenile Hall.

The family of a one-year-old boy have spoken out after he was found dead at a property occupied by his father.
Andrey Demskiy, 28, has been charged with assault by means of force likely to produce great bodily injury, corporal injury to a spouse of cohabitant, and murder after deputies with the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office responded to an incident at a property in North Sacramento County.

Officers were called to the scene on reports of a ‘family disturbance’ in the early hours of December 21, and found Demskiy’s wife outside, claiming her husband had assaulted her and her mother.
After learning Demskiy was still inside the home with his one-year-old son, officers forced entry and detained the father, who was described as being ‘uncooperative’ and ‘physically resistive’.
In the room where Demskiy had been detained, officers then found a ‘severed child’s head’, which was later determined to belong to one-year-old Micah Demskiy.
Upon investigating, detectives came to the conclusion that Demskiy had used a knife to behead and murder his son after his wife and mother-in-law left the home.
Amar Gandhi, a spokesperson for the Sheriff’s Office, said officers were ‘visibly shaken’ over the incident, and said the family had been left ‘shattered’.
In the wake of the incident, the sister-in-law of Micah’s mother set up a GoFundMe page and spoke out about the death of the young boy.
She described what happened as a ‘devastating chain of events’, and remembered Micah as a ‘kind and joyful soul, loving all people and especially dogs’.
“His kind heart and beautiful smile warmed the hearts of everyone he came in contact with,” she wrote. “He loved his family and especially his mama. He loved being with family, going to the park, and singing hymns with his family.
“If you have it on your heart to help our family in this difficult time, please keep us in your prayers.”
Micah has been described as a ‘joyful soul’ (GoFundMe)
The page explained that Micah’s mother is currently unemployed, so the fundraiser had been set up to both help with funeral arrangements for Micah and provide financial support for his mother during this time.
“If you’re able to help financially, may God bless you threefold. If you are not able to help financially, please pray for the Demskiy and Vinnikov families! Please share this with your friends and family,” the post concluded.
The fundraiser was set up with a goal of $100,000, and has raised more than $73,400 at the time of writing (December 23). If you’d like to donate, you can do so here.
